How The Cablecomb Works
The cablecomb is designed to help dress looms of cables to an exceptionally high standard by untrained personnel, just by following the basic instructions.
If the advanced instructions are followed with the cables loaded into their corresponding holes, cablecomb will sort the cables into their correct position and orientation making terminating easier as the correct cables appear in the right order.
The cablecomb has been designed to achieve near perfect dressing of cable looms by totally untrained personnel.
Instructions - Basic Use
- Load the cablecomb(s) with the required length of cable i.e. 2.5 - 3 meters to dress the loom of cables up any cable tray in the cabinet making sure there is enough cable left to terminate at the patch panel.
- As the cablecomb is moved in the required direction i.e. up from under a false floor, further cable ties should be fixed along the length of the loom of the dressed cables to maintain a neat uncrossed loom.
- Dress the loom by moving the cablecomb towards the patch panels fixing cable ties where necessary.
- Remove cables from the cablecomb and terminate as per manufacturers instructions.
Advanced Instructions
- Load the cablecomb(s) ensuring the pre-numbered cables pass through the allocated holes in the cablecomb from underneath. Pull through the required length of cable to be dressed typically 2.5 - 3 meters (if dressing to the top of a cabinet). Make sure any knots in the cables are shaken out.
- Once fully loaded, fix a loose cable tie behind the cablecomb. Moving the cablecomb in the direction required fix further cable ties behind the loose cable tie. Note - The loose cable tie should closely follow the cablecomb, its purpose being to help maintain the shape of the bundle of cables, so stopping any cables from crossing each other and ruining the perfect appearance of the loom.
- Proceed dressing the loom by moving the cablecomb in the desired direction, securing with cable ties where necessary. (Shaking out any tangled, knotted or inter-woven cables).
- The flat of the cablecomb must be kept against the cable tray/basket when the loom of cables is being dressed up or down and should finish with the flat side of the cablecomb at the top of the patch-panel.
- If the cablecomb is loaded with the correct cable in its correct hole, then with the flat of the cablecomb uppermost at the patch panel the cables can be removed in their correct orientation and sorted into odd and even numbers ready to be terminated.
